CIVIC SEASONS

In 2017, former employees of the Memorial Center of the History of Political Repressions “Perm 36” initiated the project Civic Seasons “Perm Memory Days”. As part of this project, they exhibited the “Perm Political Camps” exhibition, the first one they created after the raider seizure of the “Perm 36” Memorial Museum.

At the Seasons, the evening-meeting “Lessons of Dissent” with Sergey Kovalev, former dissident, prisoner of Perm 36 camp, Human Rights Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, first Human Rights Commissioner of Russia, human rights activist, was held. Bartender and journalist of “Echo of Moscow” radio station Natella Boltyanskaya gave a concert of civic songs and a lecture “Modern problems of human rights export in the world”. Historian Igor Dolutsky gave a lecture titled “1917: An Inevitable Accident? Besides, the Perm public was shown an episode of the “Voice of America” radio station about human rights defenders of the USSR – “Time, Events, People”.

The partner of the project was the Perm branch of “Memorial” society, which organized several actions within its framework.

In the following years, a number of civil organizations, cultural and educational institutions of the Perm Region joined the Seasons. The Perm Branch of “Memorial” Society, the Fund for the Support of Cultural Projects “New Collection”, and the Center for Urban Culture became the permanent partners of the project.
